Cookie Policy
The short version: DDSFAX uses only essential cookies required for the service to function. We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or third-party analytics that identify individual users. We do not sell data collected through cookies.
What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device by your web browser when you visit a website. They serve various functions — some are necessary for the site to work, others remember your preferences, and some track your activity across the web.
DDSFAX uses only the first two categories. We do not use any cookies that track your activity across other websites.
Cookies We Use
The following is a complete list of cookies and local storage items used by DDSFAX:
Essential Cookies (Required)
These cookies are strictly necessary for the service to function. They cannot be disabled without breaking core functionality.
- Session cookie (
ddsfax_session) — Keeps you logged into your account. This is anhttpOnly,SameSite: Laxcookie that expires after 30 days of inactivity. It contains a random session identifier — not your password or personal information. - Sidebar preference (
ddsfax_sidebar) — Remembers whether you prefer the dashboard sidebar expanded or collapsed. This is a simple preference cookie with a 1-year expiration.
Local Storage (Preferences)
These items are stored in your browser's local storage, not as cookies. They never leave your device and are not sent to our servers.
- Theme preference (
ddsfax-theme) — Stores your light/dark mode preference. If not set, DDSFAX follows your operating system's theme setting. This value is read by your browser only and is never transmitted to our servers.
Cookies We Do Not Use
For complete transparency, DDSFAX does not use:
- Advertising or retargeting cookies
- Third-party analytics cookies (no Google Analytics, no Mixpanel, no Hotjar)
- Social media tracking pixels
- Cross-site tracking cookies of any kind
- Fingerprinting or device identification technologies
Third-Party Cookies
DDSFAX does not embed any third-party scripts that set cookies on your device. Our payment processors (PayPal and Stripe) may set their own cookies when you are redirected to their checkout pages, but these cookies are governed by their respective privacy policies:
Managing Cookies
You can control cookies through your browser settings:
- Delete cookies: Clear all DDSFAX cookies from your browser settings. Note that this will log you out of your account.
- Block cookies: Configure your browser to block cookies from ddsfax.com. Note that this will prevent you from logging in to the service.
- Theme preference: You can clear local storage through your browser's developer tools, or simply toggle the theme using the sun/moon button in the DDSFAX header.
Since DDSFAX uses only essential cookies, there is no cookie consent banner or opt-in mechanism — these cookies are required for the service to function and fall under the "strictly necessary" exception in most privacy regulations.
Do Not Track
DDSFAX does not track users across websites, so the "Do Not Track" (DNT) browser signal has no effect on our service. We honor this signal by default — we simply do not track in the first place.
Updates to This Policy
If we ever change our cookie practices — for example, if we add analytics or change how we handle preferences — we will update this page and note the changes here. Material changes will be communicated via email at least 30 days before taking effect.
